Bhakti Dance is a school that specializes in learning and performing the classical Indian dance of Bharatanatyam. This dance style is so deeply rooted within the traditions of India, that often its esoterical presentations are lost to western audiences. I found that by creating a branding system that is contemporary, minimal and striking, Bharatanatyam dance could be better understood and appreciated in a context outside of India.

 

Mudras, or hand gestures, are a key element used in Bharatanatyam to tell stories within the dances. This key theme is repeated through the branding in the forms of illustrations, photography, patterns and video.
